New Image
As the number of products in the FLI portfolio is increasing and we are diversifying into new markets, we have decided to re-brand the company. After a great deal of brainstorming and exploring some radical brands for certain products, we have decided to bring the entire product range under one umbrella brand, “FLI products”. We have redesigned and updated our website to reflect this change.

Innovation, Development & Investment
The key to the future success of the business lies in innovation and development of new products. We have received DTI funding through a series of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships which links ideas and innovations from universities to industry. Our partnership is with a subsidiary of UWIC, The National Centre for Product Design and Development Research, who have a proven track record in product design.

The DTI funding has enabled our investment in state-of-the-art visualisation software to realistically illustrate structures in situ. Images created with this software can be seen in FLI bridges, trusses, trees, and braces.

New Products
  • FLI trusses - Our latest product uses weld-free technology to improve the appearance and functionality of trusses. This new method of fabrication means that FLI trusses are now competitive with more conventional beam elements but with the benefit of improved aesthetics and light weight.

  • FLI piles - We launched our helical piles last year for applications in rail, telecommunications and traditional construction. We have an exclusive agreement with the world leaders in helical piling, Hubbell Chance. This allows us to distribute helical piling products in rail and telecommunications markets and licences us to use their technology and software. Our piles have been installed on the CTRL Project, for signal posts on the rail network, for artwork structures and for mobile towers. They are particularly popular for tree foundations. We hope to install them in the forest environment soon.

  • FLI artworks - We have recently designed, manufactured and installed a number of artworks structures and we are now ready to offer solutions tailored to your needs. We have just received an order for an artwork outside the ASDA superstore at Poole

Telecoms Market
FLI Pine TreesTelecoms is still a substantial part of FLI’s business, with supply contracts continuing with T-Mobile, O2 and Network Rail.

We have continued to develop new products for this market including the FLI Pine Tree imitation telegraph pole and streetworks solutions. We continue to look for new ideas to deliver what our customers want at the right price.

We recently dismantled a radar tower at Gatwick Airport and we have more work coming up in Belize.

Portugal
Our new Lisbon office opened last year. Portugal is already benefiting from sales of FLI trees.

BICA AwardAward
FLI supplied the bespoke steel columns for the award winning walkway at Salcey forest. Each column is a different height, allowing the walkway to rise up through the trees and the final column doubles up as a lookout tower above the tree line. The columns are isosceles in shape, allowing the walkway to snake through the forest. The project won the British Construction Industry Environmental Award.
