Trojan Battery Company, the leading manufacturing company in Santa Fe Springs, has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified Quality Assurance Technician.  Come join our Quality Department and work in our dynamic plant environment with an 80 year quality heritage leading the deep cycle battery industry.

 

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will perform quality tests, perform battery analysis and troubleshoot manufacturing process conditions that adversely affect the product quality.

 

Here’s what is required:

  • Performs basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and has basic knowledge of statistics
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Data collection, and QI Analyst & performs data analysis & reporting through use of computer systems.
  • Construct charts & graphs & conduct capability studies using SPC.Able to read Blue Prints
  • Read, write and speak English
  • High school diploma or equivalent, 2 years formal QA or AA degree
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician preferred
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and current liability insurance.
  • 1 or more years in QA
  • Some manufacturing experience

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of PPE. Understand & practice the Quality policy
  • Perform vent spark test, quality tests, iron acid content tests and casting/ pasting inspections.
  • Performs battery (teardown) analysis on all types of batteries and identifies problems with advanced team member input. Conduct root cause analysis in all departments as needed to support corrective action (car) system.
  • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, draws valid conclusions, & properly documents resolutions. Ensures that changes are made to address problems. Reports all issues with materials and/or processes to QA Mgmt for analysis & disposition.
  • Special assignments may include process capability analysis.
  • Conduct plate curing (chemical) process tests – adhesion, lead particles, moisture etc.
  • Use & maintain QA dept measuring & test equipment. Perform cycle testing and HRD machine set-up & testing.
  • Record inspection/test results and maintain QA dept. records (hard copy and electronic) and  review circuit tending paperwork.
  • Audit company products and processes for conformance to specifications.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing process conditions that adversely affect product quality.
  • Make recommendations for adjustments to equipment if appropriate.
  • Report all questionable items, materials and /or processes to QA Mgmt for analysis and disposition.
  • Fully performs QA procedures for one department and can fill-in in other areas if needed.
  • Perform first article inspections and complete CPI Training (methodology) Assist with training as needed
  • Performs OJT(On the Job Training)
  • Understand & follow Work instructions
  • Follow and maintains Lean activities (5S, Housekeeping, hygiene, etc)
  • Be at work station on time and leave work station on time, unless otherwise instructed by the Team Lead and/or Supervisor.
  • Comply with Lead awareness and blood lead protocol and  with Hazard communication procedures
  • Being able to lift up to 50 lbs and understand and follow correct lifting procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.
