Re: Dismantling Mirage Wheelchair Motor Gearbox

Regarding the bearing part numbers, I've had a look online and found the following: Part Number, Bore Dia, Outer Dia, Width 6904 = 20 mm, 37 mm, 9 mm 6001 = 12 mm, 28 mm, 8 mm 6003 = 17 mm, 35 mm, 10 mm 6200 = 10 mm, 30 mm, 9 mm The letters and numbers after the part numbers describe the seals. RS m...

Dismantling Mirage Wheelchair Motor Gearbox

I replaced the motor/gearbox units when they started making horrible noises. I decided to dismantle the gearbox units and replace the bearings to see if that fixed the issue. gearbox_housing_small.jpg input_shaft_bits_small.jpg main_shaft_bits_small.jpg main_shaft_bits2_small.jpg misc_bits_small.jpg...

Re: Electric Wheelchair Design "hyperchair"

As the weight of all of the parts of my new design of chair (apart from the motor/wheel assemblies) is well under 10kg it wouldn't be too hard to have that as a maximum weight. This could be achieved by using a spanner to remove the single centre nut from each axle to separate the wheels from the mo...

Re: Electric Wheelchair Design "hyperchair"

Lessons learned etc: Some parts on the chair didn't work out as well as hoped: 1) The motors had more movement than I liked because of the quick release blocks and as I wasn't using them to dismantle the chair I have removed them and attached the motors directly to the frame. I'm not sure if it was ...

Re: Electric Wheelchair Design "hyperchair"

A trial assembly was carried out to ensure that the batteries would not rub on the tyres when the chair is in use. an additional cross-member has been added behind the batteries as they were rubbing on the rear tyres. After the trial assembly it was decided to tack on the footrest as a temporary mea...

Re: Electric Wheelchair Design "hyperchair"

After cutting X, X', Y and Y' down to 17cm, they were welded into place along with S and S'. After welding S and S' into place it appears that although strong enough in the assembled configuration they will need reinforcing with corner bracing. The photo below shows the top section in place: chair_t...

Re: Electric Wheelchair Design "hyperchair"

Below is the drawing for the two bearing housings: bearing_housing.jpg The bearing clearance is to allow for distortion whan the housings are welded into the frame. After welding the bearing housings into the frame it was found that a small amount of filing was required at the top where the metal ha...

Re: Electric Wheelchair Design "hyperchair"

The aluminium hubs are still a work in progress (the keyways need cutting and then then they need reducing in size [to save weight]). The photos below show the aluminium hubs in use (non-functional as the keyways still need cutting) along with the rest of the frame assembled to verify the cutting le...
