The above set is used on 160 meters only
and works great but I have another one is just like it and is for 80 meters
only. I set the band spread on both sets to operate only in the CW
bands.
Using that band spread setup, tuning
is very comfortable and there is no need to touch up the regen under normal
conditions.
The only noticeable difference between
the two sets are the handles on the face of the 160 meter set.
I usually see about 3 watts out of the
sets with about 350 volt HT.
Lately I have built a different power
supply giving only 210 volt HT and I am measuring less than a watt .
I like operating at a lower power level.
I normally use a full size dipole on both bands at about 12 meters above
the ground. Everything worked the first time I turned the power supply
on.
I did find that I needed to remove a
few turns of wire on the receive coil antenna connection as the signals from
the dipole were overloading the receiver on really strong signals.I have
been very pleased with the sets.
I never operate anything but the Parasets
these days. A couple years ago we put together a Paraset night in honour
of D-day and I was amazed at the number of stations that were all calling
at the same time at the scheduled time.
I have plans to reinstate coils turns
that I removed from the receive coil and make an attenuator when using the
dipole and then I can go out into the field and try some really short "long
wire" antennas like the sets were suppose to use.
Every station that I have worked has
always been very supportive of the venture .....
